Learning & Development Course Guide 2022

This newly designed Leading People program takes a contemporary view of the role of leadership in small businesses starting with an inward-facing view of our own leadership style, emotional intelligence and feedback skills before then understanding how we can use these skills to lead successful practice teams.

Practice workshops have become a highlight for many managers and key staff in the ProVision education calendar. There is something empowering about sharing and learning from others in the same boat who really get the challenges associated with working in an independent practice.

Eyecare Essentials, delivered via ProLearn, is a foundation program focusing on developing the learner’s understanding of the Eye, Lenses and Frames, Prescriptions and Contact Lenses to support knowledge acquisition within the practice setting. It is also a pre-requisite program for participation in the Introduction to Optics program.

Intro to Optics educates newcomers to the optical industry with a program designed to provide a solid foundation for a career journey in independent eyecare. By focusing on the skill development of inexperienced team members in basic optical concepts and practical dispensing, they will leave with greater confidence to interact with customers, recommend and dispense lenses, take basic measurements and perform frame adjustments.

Take your dispensing staff’s knowledge to the next level and help them gain a deeper, practical understanding of the more technical aspects of optical dispensing. The course will explore the more technical aspects of dispensing and enable participants to confidently recommend the most appropriate products and solutions for high or unusual prescriptions with the expert guidance and knowledge of Helen Venturato.

This course will take a practical look at how to select the correct lens for a patient to ensure the best dispensing outcomes. From choosing which lens material is appropriate to understanding the features and benefits of different PAL designs, this course considers all the variables – the prescription, frame, specific purposes and more – encountered in practice when dispensing.

The Cert IV in Optical Dispensing will help to ensure that optical appliances are dispensed as prescribed by the optometrists and/or ophthalmologists in accordance with The Australian Standards. It will give participants a thorough understanding of all aspects of the dispensing process.

Effective Optometric practitioners recognise that the patient experience does not end at the consulting room door. Developing a strong understanding of the application of ophthalmic dispensing is a critical part of a successful practice by ensuring the accurate and appropriate realisation of the Optometric consultation.
